World on a Plate was a temporary exhibition created to celebrate International Education Week (IEW 2024). The exhibition featured illustrations and animations by undergraduate and graduate students, each depicting dishes from around the world. It culminated in a short stop-motion animation that brought all the dishes together, symbolizing the connections between people of different cultures. As a celebration of food as a cultural connector, the exhibition invited visitors to enjoy a visual feast that evoked memory and encouraged cross-cultural connection.
The project developed over the course of four weeks. Each student illustrated a favorite dish from their home country or region and shared a personal story about its significance. I contributed a piece inspired by a traditional Iranian dish served during Nowruz (Persian New Year), reflecting on how food can carry memory, tradition, and emotion on a single plate.
Selected footage from the making of the short film and its exhibition presentation can be viewed below.
